Aurora Community College, also known as the Community College of Aurora, or simply as CCA, is a community college found in Aurora, in the state of Colorado. The school is part of the Colorado Community College System. The college serves over 10,000 students each term. Its main campus is the CentreTech Campus in Aurora, Colorado, with a satellite campus in Lowry Campus in Denver, and online classes. Establishing a college at Aurora started in the 1950’s when a group of local citizens wanted a local college. Then eventually in 1983, the Colorado General Assembly voted to create the school in Aurora.
There are several student organizations found in CCA. These groups and organizations are designed to contribute to the educational environment at the school. Among the groups and clubs located in CCA include CCA Film Fans, Co-Ed Soccer, Fade In (a Film & Script Writing group), International Student Association, Poetic Motions, Phi Beta Lambda (a Business Association), Phi Theta Kappa (an Honors Association) Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture and the Student Government Association.
Among the programs and degrees offered at CCA includes Associate of Arts Degrees, Associate of Science Degrees, Associate of General Studies Degrees, Associate of Applied Science Degrees, Articulated Degrees, and several different certificates.
Students that finish their two year degrees at CCA are given the change to continue their education through transferring programs. These programs allow students to take credit from their two years and finish their 4 year bachelor’s degree. The program also allows students to immediately continue their studies with affiliated colleges and universities in Colorado. Students can also take their 2 year courses and immediately join the workforce with the skills and abilities that they have learned with their time at the school.
